Howell papersOscar Gene Howell, age 72, of Glenwood, died Thursday, May 7, 2015.
He was born on February 27, 1943 at Norman, the son of William Oscar Howell and Opal Reed Howell.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Dale Howell.  On July 15, 1989, he was married to Fredia Louise Miller.
He was employed for many years with Reynolds Metal Company and was a cattleman.  He was a United States Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Fredia Louise Howell of Glenwood; two children, Carolyn Mckinney of Bismarck and Richard Wilburn Emmett of Glenwood; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Jackie Hamilton of Hot Springs; two aunts, Ernestine Reynolds of Glenwood and Levina Ford of Texas; and his nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 11, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Robert Beming officiating.
Visitation was Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Graveside services were at 3:00 PM, Monday, in the Goat Bluff Cemetery near Hollis.
Pallbearers were Fred Dearyan, Randy Meeks, Bruce Sutton, Ken Borden, Bob Sims, Jack Wilhite and Eli Nesar.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Martin Koehn, Dr. John Featherston, Dr. Stephen Fred Divers, Dr. Timothy Webb and all of the doctors and medical staff that helped with his care.
