DSC_0943NASHVILLE – The Nash-
ville Scrapperette softball
team saw a pair of contests
this week, facing off first
against the Hope Lady Bob-
cats on Monday afternoon at
Futrell Field at the Nashville
city park.
Hope made the first move
with a sacrifice maneuver to
bring in one run in the first,
though the Scrapperettes re-
taliated in force by dropping
two runs at a time before
the end of the inning. First
came Brookelyen Cox and
KeeKee Richardson in on a
hard grounder to left field
by Anna Kesterson, then a
few moments later Madison
Miller and Madi Horton were
brought home by a fly ball to
left field from Hannah White.
This set the score Nashville
4-1 going into the second.
The lead was extended
by one run in the second, as
Cox came in on a grounder to
short from Gabi Dougan, but
then the score stagnated into
the sixth inning. Hope made
two runs then on a pair of
sacrifice plays.
As earlier, the scoring by
the Lady Bobcats seemed
to motivate the Nashville
team, who began tearing
up and down the baselines
in the bottom of the sixth.
First, Kaylea Carver came
in on a grounder to center
field from Cox, then Cox
was herself brought in with
a sacrifice play by Brittany
Hilliard. Jamison then made
it on Dougan’s fly to right
field and Peekaboo Garland
did the same on Miller’s
fly to center. Miller ran in
on Alyssa Harrison’s hard
grounder to center, and
Chelsey Hile came home
from a fielder’s choice. This
six run series basically de-
cided the game, and with
three up and three down in
the top of the seventh, the
game was sealed in favor
of the Scrapperettes. Final
score, Nashville 11-3.
