scrapper starWALDRON – The Nashville Scrapperettes went through a steadily paced and ultimately dominating game against the Waldron Lady Bulldogs Friday afternoon.

Play began slow, with Nashville getting a runner on base, but unable to capitalize, and Waldron sending three up, three down in the first. First scoring occurred in the top of the second, as Madi Horton stole home and Kendall Kirchhoff ran in on a sacrifice grounder to first by Hannah White. The score stood Nashville 2-0 into the top of the fourth, when Horton and Mattie Jamison were both brought in on a line drive to center from White.
The following inning was the high scoring inning for the Scrapperettes, with Kacey Hinds and Kaylea Carver coming home on a grounder to short stop by Horton and KeeKee Richardson running in on a ground out to short by White. The score froze at Nashville 7-0 until the top of the seventh, when Brookelyen Cox singled off a fly to right, managing to bring in Kaycee Patrick, effectively ending the game with a final score of Nashville 8-0.
Credit for the game rests strongly in the hands of pitcher Anna Kesterson, who achieved an astounding 73 strikes on 102 pitches in seven innings, including 10 strikeouts – allowing only two hits. Offensively, White shone with two hits and four RBIs in four at bats.
The Scrapperettes next take the field this afternoon as they host the Ashdown Lady Panthers at Futrell Field at the Nashville city park.
