NASHVILLE – A local man
is facing burglary and bat-
tery charges after he was
arrested early Wednesday
morning.
According to a state-
ment issued by Sheriff Bry-
an McJunkins, 30 year old
Jeff Shelton was taken into
custody around 2:30 a.m.
after a caller reported the
suspect “came to his house
on Rock Station Drive and
forced his way inside.”

“Deputies Steven Wake-
field and Blake Eudy re-
sponded. [The victim] told
deputies that he grabbed
his shotgun as Shelton
was trying to come into his
house,” McJunkins said in
the statement. “[The vic-
tim] reported that Shelton
forced his way inside his
house, knocking [a second
victim] to the floor after hit-
ting her with
the door.”
Shelton
allegedly
grabbed the
shotgun and
it fired in the
process, al-
though no
one was injured, according
to McJunkins.
“Shelton then pulled the
gun away from [the victim]
and continued fighting with
[him],” McJunkins said.
“Shelton caused injuries to
[the victim]’s face … then
left with [his] shotgun.”
McJunkins said depu-
ties recovered the shotgun
in a ditch near the home
shortly after arresting the
suspect. He remains an in-
mate at Howard County Jail
whose bond had not been
set at press time.
