MI softball 1The Mount Ida Lady Lions opened a three game conference run with an 11-4 victory over Mountain Pine before dropping games to Poyen and Magnet Cove.
Freshman pitcher Mallory Carr showed her grit and determination Thursday, pitching 189 pitches in back to back games.

The Lady Lions opened with Mountain Pine. Mattie Fiorello and Patty Anne Whisenhunt each scored in each of the first three innings to help Mount Ida jump out to a 10-3 lead. Raven xxxx scored the lone run in the fourth and Mountain Pine would add one in the fifth to account for the final.
Patty Anne Whisenhunt had two hits, one double, a base on balls and three runs,while Mattie Fiorello had two base on balls, one hit and three runs.
Mallory Carr had one hit, two walks and a run and teammate Raven xxxx had a hit, a walk and two runs.
Kendra had three base on balls and a run, and Katie xxxx had a walk and a run.
Mount Ida ended the day with a 16-0 loss at the hands of Poyen.
The Lady Lions were able to hold the Lady Indians to a single run in the first two innings and entered the fourth inning down 4-0. Poyen rattled off six runs in the fourth and again in the fifth to end the game with the sportsmanship rule.
xxxx took to the mound Friday as the Lady Indians traveled to Magnet Cove.
Patty Anne Whisenhunt trotted to first base after being hit by a pitch in the first at bat of the game. Taylor xxxx reached baseon a walk and Lyndsey Crutchfield slapped a single. Whisenhunt and xxxx went on to score to give the Lady Lions a 2-0 lead in the first. Magnet Cove doubled their effort in the bottom half of the opening inning to take a 4-2 lead after one.
The Lady Panthers scored three in the second four in the third and six in the bottom of the fourth to claim the victory.
